Indulge in a rejuvenating transformation for your face. With hydrating and restoring qualities, dermal fillers refine your features by gracefully replenishing lost plumpness. Prepare to dazzle with lush, juicy lips, a face shape sculpted to perfection, or chiseled cheekbones that spark envy.
Fillers are gel-like substances made from hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance found in the skin. Hyaluronic Acid binds to water which helps regulate the water balance in the skin. Fillers are injected beneath the skin’s surface for facial aesthetic treatments such as filling out lines and wrinkles, adding volume to sunken areas of the face, and defining and contouring facial features.
When filler is injected into the skin, they work by essentially imitating the natural Hyaluronic Acid already present in the body and plumping the skin from the inside.
Some areas such as the lips and nose are more sensitive than others. Generally, most patients feel a little discomfort when getting fillers. However, we apply a numbing cream before the procedure to minimize discomfort.
Begin preparing for your treatment a week before your appointment by avoiding painkillers such as aspirin and ibuprofen, as well as supplements that increase the risk of bruising like vitamin E and fish oil. However, if your doctor has prescribed any of these, do not stop taking them. Avoid alcohol at least one day before your appointment, as it increases the risk of bleeding and swelling. Do not plan any dental work for a month before or after the treatment.
Avoid touching the treated areas for up to six hours after treatment. For the first 24 hours, avoid applying pressure to the treated areas (sleep on your back if possible). Stay away from alcohol, oil-based makeup, and makeup and skincare products containing AHA, retinols, and vitamin C. For the first couple of days after treatment, you should also avoid strenuous exercise and intense heat (including saunas and sunbathing).
The results are immediate, but it can take between two to four weeks for the fillers to fully settle. Hyaluronic Acid-based dermal fillers last between six to 18 months, depending on the treated area and how quickly the patient metabolizes the filler. We recommend getting a touch-up every three to six months to maintain the best results.
Bruising is common for many patients after getting fillers (especially lip fillers), but will subside quickly. Some may also experience swelling which will go down after a couple of days.
